Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary,
Georgetown, Delaware,

Currently Under Construction

This 20,000sf no-kill animal sanctuary is aiming for LEED Gold certification. Their philosophy is to respect both the animals and the environment. The building uses green techniques such as passive-solar design, innovative and super-high-efficiency mechanical systems, and natural materials. One goal is to have people come for the animals and be excited by the green design, and conversely for people to come to see the green technology and fall in love with an animal.

View One:

Animals placed in a wire cage, facing other animals in a wire cage, become aggravated. This shelter will put the animals in enclosures of aluminum framing and glass, arranged facing a courtyard so that no other animals are visible. By being in a more humane environment, the animals will be better behaved, and easier to adopt out to caring families.
